About This Site
Everything you ever wanted to know about Recipe Zone, and a few things you didn’t.
How This Page Came To Be
Recipe Zone started in the spring of 1996 as a single hand-typed HTML file on a free web host, created so that my family could stop calling me every Sunday to ask for the pot roast recipe. It has since grown into a proper collection of tried-and-true home cooking: soups and stews, casseroles, breads, pies, and the occasional experiment that we all agreed never to speak of again.
Every recipe here has been cooked in a real kitchen, on a real stove, and eaten by real people — usually with seconds. There are no food stylists, no fancy camera lenses, and absolutely no “deconstructed” anything. If a dish takes four hours, the recipe says so right at the top.
Why keep an old-fashioned page like this? Because it loads fast, it works on any computer made in the last twenty years, and it doesn’t ask you to create an account just to read about biscuits. No pop-ups, no autoplay, no cookie banners. Just recipes, typed by hand, the way the web was meant to be.
About the Webmaster
GeoCook is a home cook, part-time HTML enthusiast, and the sole author of every page on this site. All recipes are typed by hand in Notepad and uploaded over a dial-up connection, which is why new ones appear roughly as often as Halley’s Comet.
Found a typo? Made one of these dishes? Want to trade a recipe of your own? Drop me a line at geocook@geocities.com. I read every message, though it may take a week or two.
